Chile's famous Easter Island reopened for visitors after two Years 

 

After remaining shut down for more than years, the very famous Easter Island in Chile has finally opened for travelers. On Thursday, the island welcomed its first organization of site visitors after final its borders for over years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Easter Island, spread across 3219 km, is noted for being home to over one thousand stone statues carved centuries ago via way of means of the island's inhabitants.

These giant head statues are globally famous and attract tourists from throughout the globe. Today, these statues are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pedro Edmunds, the mayor of Easter Island, said, "(Easter Island) is the biggest open-air museum in the world."

He further said that it’s now the time to reopen the island after 868 days in the past and the principle attention is to hold the visitor safe. "We've learned what the pandemic is about and recognize how to take care of ourselves," Edmunds stated.

Only fully vaccinated site visitors may be allowed to enter. Also, a negative PCR test taken now no longer older than 24 hours may be required before boarding a home flight to the island. International visitors will need to take a rapid antigen check as soon as they come to the island.

 

He further said that it’s now the time to reopen the island after 868 days ago and the principal focus is to hold the visitor safe. "We've learned what the pandemic is about and know how to take care of ourselves," Edmunds stated.
