Gujarat government has introduced that the ancient city of Vadnagar will soon become a historical destination.

Vadnagar town is located in the Mehsana district in Gujarat. It is a historically vital metropolis, with a record of non-stop human settlements, and relationships back to the third and fourth centuries.

The ancient town is rich in heritage, and culture and holds many important archaeological treasures. Vadnagar was earlier known as each Anatapura and Anandapura.

One will discover mentions of Anarthapura or Anadapura in historic inscriptions and antique literary sources including Mahabharata, Puranic tales, and even on Junagadh rock inscriptions.

Vadnagar is also one of the important Buddhist sites in India. There were once ancient Buddhist monasteries, the evidence of which was found in the discovery of snapshots of Bodhisattva, the relationship returned to the 1/3 and fourth centuries.

Also, returned in 2009, archaeologists located remnants of a four km-lengthy fortification close to Vadnagar. According to the researchers, that could be what is left of ancient Anartapura.
