Shankaracharya Temple

The Shankaracharya Temple situated on top of the Shankaracharya Hill is a temple of  Lord Shiva and is among the oldest shrines in Kashmir. Also called Jyesteshwara Temple, the temple has named after the great philosopher Shankaracharya believed to have visited Srinagar ten centuries ago. The Shiva Linga he venerated and worshiped is located inside the temple.

It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya attained enlightenment at this place. After the enlightenment, he went out and made the four Hindu schools of Advaita, or the philosophy related to non-dualism. Char Chinar

Char Chinar, Srinagar

Char Chinar is an island located in Dal Lake engulfed by the Chinar trees on all four sides. Also called Char Chinnari and Rupa Lank, it was constructed by Murad Baksh, the brother of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The Char Chinar is finely explored at the time of a shikhara ride in the Dal Lake. The Dal Lake has 3 islands, 2 of which are engulfed by the chinar trees. Apart from the Char Chinar, one island is situated on the Bod Dal and is called Roph Lank or Silver Island. Nishat Bagh

The Nishat Bagh is a twelve-terraced garden situated near Dal Lake. It is the second-biggest Mughal garden in Kashmir after Shalimar Bagh. Also called the "Garden of Bliss", it has a mesmerizing Mughal garden with multiple fountains, engulfed by  Chinar trees. Nishat Bagh was designed and constructed in 1633 by Asif Khan, the elder brother of Nur Jehan.

Pari Mahal is a seven-terraced garden situated above the Chashme Shahi Gardens near Srinagar. Chashme Shahi

Chashme Shahi, Srinagar

Chashme Shahi is among the three Mughal gardens in Srinagar, situated in the Zabarwan range that overlooks the pristine Dal Lake. Also known as the prince of springs, it was constructed in 1632 AD by Ali Marda Khan under the command of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his eldest son Dara Shikoh. Chashme Shahi Garden is known for its natural spring Rupa Bhawani. It is open for travelers from March to November.

Translated as Royal Spring, Chashme Shahi is a terraced garden with walkways, beautiful plants as well as pools of water.
