14000 feet Peak at Gadsar Pass Himalayan climbed by 9-year-old Vadodara boy

Viaan Patel, a nine-year-old boy from Vadodara, Gujarat has made India proud. The youngster scaled a 14000 feet height at Gadsar Pass in the Himalayas and has ended up the youngest boy in Gujarat to have completed such a feat in only a matter of 7 days!

Talking to TOI, Viaan said, "It was one of the first-rate experiences I ever had. I had never climbed to such a height, so there had been some worrying moments. But I changed into the confidence of reaching the peak and I did it".

A few days back, Viaan, along with his father Mittal Patel (also a climber), had participated withinside the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek from August 7 to 14.

His father said that the trek was pretty difficult but he wanted his son to be fully organized before taking on the real challenge and they were preparing for the journey for the last 4 months. He further stated that they climb the Pavagadh mountain (situated in Panchmahal district, Gujarat) every week and would take the most difficult routes to reach the top of the mountain.

Viaan had seen his father climbing Pavagadh and Mount Abu many times. Just at the tender age of two, Viaan might accompany him on some of his adventures and that’s how the kid fell in love with trekking. When his father told him about his desire to climb the Himalayas, his son agreed. Of course, before that, he taught his son to enjoy the challenges of a way to survive in mountains and living in tents in the center of dark forests, along with surviving on less food and water supply.

During the seven days, he walked for almost 8 hours daily on difficult terrains. The trek leader, Zoya Narula, said, "I was surprised after I noticed Viaan trek thru the tough terrains and climb the peaks with no complaints. Children of this age in no way take this trek as they are not capable of adjusting to the climate. Sometimes even grown-ups bitch of breathlessness due to lack of oxygen and biting cold."

But nothing could deter Viaan’s determination to complete the trek on his own! And today, Viaan is getting all of the fame he deserves.
