Kumbhalgarh– Here you find Heritage and Nature
Kumbhalgarh is a fortress situated in the Aravalli hills of Rajsamand. A Merwar Fortress, Kumbhalgarh is among the World Heritage Sites and is the second biggest fort in India only after Chittorgarh Fort. With an area of about 12 square km, fort walls extend over almost 36 km and are among the longest walls in the world, only after the great wall of China. Kumbhalgarh Fort is among the five hill forts in Rajasthan declared as UNESCO world heritage sites in 2013. Located in Rajsamand, almost 82 kilometers from the city of Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh Fort comprises the second largest wall at 38 km only after the great wall of China. Built on the foothills of the Aravali ranges, it is engulfed by thirteen hill peaks and lies at an elevation of 1,914 m. Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Rajsamand. It covers an area of 578 sq km and stretches across the Aravalli ranges. It covers portions of Udaipur, Rajsamand as well as Pali. Badal Mahal is a portion of the principal fort. It is bifurcated into two sections: Zanana as well as Mardana Halls for ladies and men respectively. The architecture of the sections is mesmerizing. Situated in Kumbhalgarh Fort in Hanuman Pol in Kumbhalgarh, Vedi Temple is a Jain temple of deity- Goddess Vedi. Constructed in an octagonal shape, the temple has 36 pillars and was constructed by Rana Kumbha for the sacrifice of the pilgrims.
